Whitecairns

Over Hill: This Tump was located east of Whitecairns and the B999 Aberdeen to Tarves Road. I parked on the unclassified road leading to Backhill of Overhill, several metres east of the B999, and crossed a barbed wire fence then some long grass to reach a wide vehicle track that led to a quarry. To its south I crossed another barbed wire fence then a deer fence to access a field of young fir trees where I walked round the perimeter. The deer fence was later re-crossed then a stock fence to give access to a grassy field. I came to another barbed wire fence which I was able to roll under before crossing a second field of grass and to the summit of Over Hill which was apparently at the far end of this field. The return was by the upward route.

Catcraig Hill: Parked on the unclassified road at the entrance to Ardoe House, accessed from the B999 Aberden to Tarves Road, north of Whitecairns, and walked SSW along a vehicle track which led to an open field containing standing stones and a memorial stone. This was the summit of Catcraig Hill but wandered around a bit as I was unable to say which the highest point of this Tump was. The return was by the upward route.

Cairn Hill: Parked beside Cairncross Cottages on an unclassified road south of Ellon and walked south along a vehicle track to a copse of trees and to what was apparently the highest point of this Tump.  The return was by the approach route.

Hill of Ythsie: Left my vehicle in the car park on the north side of the unclassified road west of South Ythsie, accessed from the B999 south-east of Tarves, and followed the marked track and path to the summit of Hill of Ythsie. The high point of this Tump was an embedded stone beside the monument the door of which was open so I climbed the spiral staircase to the top where there were views across the Aberdeenshire countryside. The return was by the upward route.
