Tomintoul

Breac Leathad and Tom Trumper – Left my vehicle in the car park on the north side of Conglass Water, accessed from the A939 Cockbridge to Tomintoul Road east of Delachule, and walked north-east then north along a forest track up the side of the Allt Mullach. Once beyond the trees I joined a vehicle track heading north-east to a viewpoint then onto a communications tower where the track came to an end.

From there I walked south-east along a faint path through grasses, heather and marshy ground on a gentle gradient following the edge of a stock fence. The flat summit area of the Tump, Breac Leathad, consisted of lots of peat bogs with the highest point located north of the fence but the exact spot couldn’t be determined.

I returned to the fence and descended east the underfoot conditions improving slightly until I reached the col with Tom Trumper where the ground was a bit wet. Here I joined old vehicle tracks that ran close to the summit of this Sub Dodd, although again the actual highpoint wasn’t obvious.

I then returned to Breac Leathad and the start by the approach route.

Carn na Sroine – This Sub Dodd was located on the north side of the A939 Tomintoul to Grantown on Spey Road. I parked beside the stock gate on the west side of a stream south-east of Dirdhu at grid reference NJ084206, passed through the gate and walked north then east along a vehicle track to the col north-west of Carn na Sroine. Here I left the track and climbed through heather and boggy ground to reach the summit of this hill although the actual highpoint couldn’t be determined.
