The Tumps, Balkello Hill and Auchterhouse Hill, are located north of the City of Dundee, and accessed from the Tealing to Auchterhouse Road to the west of the A90 Dundee to Forfar Road. I left my vehicle in the Balkello Community Woodland Car Park which was rather icy. I exited the car park at its north-west corner and walked along woodland paths onto the open hillside. Other paths then led to the summit of Balkello Hill, marked with a viewfinder.
From there I descended west and still on paths climbed Auchterhouse Hill, this summit being unmarked. I then returned to the woodland car park.
