I parked on waste ground on the north side of the A82 Ballachulish to Tyndrum Road south-east of Achnacon in Glen Coe. I then walked the short distance to the start of the private road leading to Gleann-leac-na-muidhe.
This tarred road led to the farm buildings with a diversion via a path to avoid the holiday homes. At the farm there were a couple of gates to pass through where sheep were penned in.
An estate track continued up the side of the Allt na Muidhe but came to an end at another gate.
Beyond a rough path headed south on the east side of the stream and I utilised this path until well up the glen. On leaving it I crossed grassy vegetation as I climbed steadily to the col between Aonach Dubh a’ Ghlinne and Stob an Fhuarain. The final section of this climb was through some rocks and stones.
I then entered the low cloud as I climbed to the summit of the Munro Top, Stob an Fhuarain. From there I descended south west to the col with Sgor na h-Ulaidh as the cloud began to lift. Here I met a couple of shepherds taking the sheep off the high ground for the winter. From this col I climbed to the summit of the Munro, Sgor na h-Ulaidh, where I had some reasonable views as the cloud continued to clear.
After a break at the summit I returned by the outward route although once below the col between Aonach Dubh a’ Ghlinne and Stob an Fhuarain I made a more direct return to the end of the vehicle track thus avoiding the path down the side of the Allt na Muidhe.
