I parked below the dam at the east end of Loch Lyon just west of Pubil in Glen Lyon then walked north crossing the vehicle track that headed west along the north side of the Loch and followed the line of a stock fence uphill. I later left this fence and headed north-west through some grassy gullies and onto the 710 knoll, Meall Phubuill.
The gradient then eased and the ground was a bit damp as I made the easy ascent of the Corbett Top, Creag a’ Chaorainn. I then descended west then north-west to reach the col above the streams Eas nan Aighean and the Feith Thalain. Here old metal fence posts and traces of a walker’s path led up the broad grassy ridge before later swinging north-west then south-west. I later left the line of fence posts and in a heavy shower headed to the summit of the Corbett, Meall Buidhe, marked by a cairn and fence post.
There was little point in hanging around so I returned to the col between the Eas nan Aighean and the Feith Thalain as low cloud briefly engulfed the summit of Meall Buidhe.
At this col I headed down the north-west side of the Feith Thalain crossing a few small gullies. Below the col between Creag a’ Chaorainn and Sron a’ Choire Chnapanich I crossed the Feith Thalain and climbed towards the col and its peat hags. Once round or through them I commenced the ascent of Sron a’ Choire Chnapanich which was a steady climb mainly over short vegetation to reach the small cairn marking the summit of this Corbett.
I descended south initially following more metal fence posts then across grassy vegetation to near the dam on the Allt Phubuill where I joined a vehicle track that took me to Pubil House. From there it was a short road walk back to my car.
