In December 2018 I climbed the Corbetts, Rois-Bheinn and An Stac from Inverailort. The weather wasn’t great and the Allt a’ Bhuiridh was running high so I missed out on Sgurr na Ba Glaise so today I was back to climb it with a couple of friends who were going to include Rois-Bheinn.
We parked on the west side of the A861 Lochailort to Sallen Road just south of the vehicle track leading to Alisary where a locked stock gate prevented access. Once over it we walked along the track to the buildings at Alisary and a barking dog within a kennel. Immediately prior to this property we left the track and followed a rough path between the trees and the Alisary Burn where care was required as the path was eroded in places with a drop into the gorge.
On clearing the trees we followed the burn east then south passed the waterfalls.
A left tributary took us towards Coire na Cnamha and the bealach between An Stac and Rois-Bheinn. An old stone dyke ran along the north side of the burn to the Bealach an Fhiona and onto Rois-Bheinn.
Rather than continue to the bealach between An Stac and Rois-Bheinn we followed the dyke gradually gaining height into the low cloud. The ground steepened and there was a walker’s path which left the dyke and followed some old metal fence posts before returning to the dyke and onto the Bealach an Fhiona.
From there we climbed south-east the gradient later increasing as the path zigzagged to the summit of the Corbett, Sgurr na Ba Glaise which was marked by a cairn.
It was wet and windy so we descended back to the Bealach an Fhiona where I returned by the ascent route while my walking companions headed for Rois-Bheinn.
