Meikle Says Law: We parked on rough ground at the side of the unclassified Duns to Gifford Road, opposite the estate track leading to Faseny Cottage, and descended to this habitation via the vehicle track.
Beyond the cottage we crossed the Faseny Water and walked up the improved vehicle tracks onto Little Says Law and to a sign for the Herring Road.
The next section of the walk was over some rough heathery ground then we followed a fence to eventually reach the trig point on the Marilyn, Meikle Says Law. Here we took shelter in a hollow from the cool breeze for a bite to eat.
The return was by a vehicle track initially going south-west later swinging round to the north to follow the Faseny Water which was crossed a few times. On reaching Faseny Cottage we ascended the estate track back to the start.
Spartleton: We parked on an area of grass on the north side of the B6355 Gifford to Preston Road, east of the outflow from the Whiteadder Reservoir. We then walked north along a vehicle track through a field of sheep and towards Bothwell Hill.
On gaining a bit of height we left the track and descended to and crossed Snails Cleugh passing through a few gates. We then crossed some heather, at times utilising animal trails, to reach an estate track which took us to the summit of the Marilyn, Spartleton, which was marked by a trig point and cairn.
The return was via the estate track then vehicle trails and a path to Gamelshiel followed by a short walk back along the B6355.
