Lower Deeside

Berry Top: This Tump was located south of Maryculter, south-west of Aberdeen, and was climbed from the east parking on the minor road south of the quarry lochan, accessed from the B979 Peterculter to Stonehaven Road.  It was just the case of crossing a couple of fields to reach the trig point marking the summit of Berry Top before returning by the approach route.

Hawkhill: Parked on the minor road west of Upper Burnhaugh, located west of the B979 Peterculter to Stonehaven Road and walked over some rough ground to reach the summit of this Tump. The return was by the upward route.

Hill of Montsnaught: This Tump was located west of Netherley on the B979 Peterculter to Stonehaven Road. I left my car at the side of the vehicle track between Burnside and Montsnaught Farms, crossed a field then went through a new fir plantation to the summit of Hill of Montsnaught. The return was by the approach route.

Meikle Carewe Hill: Located south-west of Netherley I left my car at the side of the road west of Burnside Farm, accessed from the B979 Peterculter to Stonehaven Road, and walked south along a vehicle track. I later left this track, crossed rough vegetation and higher up a road within the windfarm to reach the summit of this Tump. The return was by a more direct route.

Mundernal: From the minor road to the south-west immediately north of the A957 Banchory to Stonehaven Road walked north-east along a track within Durris Forest. I then worked my way north through the mature fir trees higher up locating a path that led to open ground and the summit of the Tump, Mundernal. I returned down the path to the forest track and sought out a route to the Tump, Strathgyle, but failed to find a way through the trees. I therefore returned along the forest tracks to the start.
