Glenkindie

Ord Hill – Parked in the lay-by on A93 Aboyne to Ballater Road, west of Dinnet and Meikle Kinord, and walked through the well spaced trees and to summit of this Tump. The return was by the upward route.

Cairnbeg Hill and Clachcurr – I left my car in the parking area for Ben Newe, located on the west side of the A97 Glenkindie to Strathdon Road, south of Mains of Glenbuchat, and walked north along this road to the access road leading to Dunanford. This road took me to the bridge over the River Don then I followed a grassy track up Glac of Barns where I crossed a gate and followed another track to the summit of the Tump, Cairnbeg Hill.

I returned to Glac of Barns and continued east on this grassy track then along a track that took me onto the summit area of Clachcurr. It was then a short walk through heather to the cairn marking the summit of this Tump. I thereafter headed back to the Glac of Barns and the bridge over the River Don where I took a short cut through weeds and nettles to reach the parking area.

Trancie Hill: This Tump was located to the south-east of Glenkindie so I parked off the unclassified road to the south of Trancie Hill and walked along a vehicle track before entering a field. Once across this field and a gate a grassy rake through the trees led to the unmarked summit. The return was by the ascent route.

Aitionn Hill: Parked at Milltown of Towie on the unclassified road to the south-east of Glenkindie, as the only suitable area to leave my car, and walked north to beyond the bridge over the River Don. I entered and crossed a harvested cornfield and then it was into an area of rough grazing to reach the unmarked summit of this Tump. The return was by upward route.

Loanhead Hill: This Tump was situated to the west of Muir of Fowlis and to the south-west of a minor crossroads junction. I parked at the east side of Loanhead Hill and walked west along a forest track to beyond a gate and fence. Here I climbed south through well spaced trees to cross another fence then headed east close to the summit of Loanhead Hill. The exact high point wasn’t established despite visiting an area covered by fir trees.
