I drove south on the minor single track road that headed through Inshraich Forest, accessed from the B970 Inverdruie to Kingussie Road, and parked in an old excavated area on the west side of the road near the end of the public road at the bridge over the Allt Fhearnasdail.
I then cycled south down Glen Feshie initially on a hard core surface but this was soon replaced by tar. The cycle was harder work than I expected and after passing Glenfeshie Lodge the track reverted back to a hard core surface.
On reaching a junction of tracks at grid reference NN843917 a marquee had been erected nearby but I’ve no idea for what purpose. I took a right here but after a short distance the gradient increased so I dumped my bike and continued on foot up Slochd Mor on a good quality track which was steep in places. Unlike me not a problem for fit mountain bikers.
Loch an t-Sluic was passed then I reached another track junction and here turned left. This track continued below and to the west of the Graham Top, Sron na h-Iolaire, and the 761 knoll before the gradient increased as it crossed close to the summit of Meall an Uillt Chreagaich.
After making a slight diversion to visit the cairn marking the summit of this Corbett Top, I descended south-west on a walker’s path to a ruin and the col with Leathad an Taobhain where the ground was a bit damp. The path then continued up the north ridge of Leathad an Taobhain to just east of the trig point which was visited. Unfortunately the top was in cloud so there were no views.
I had a short break here before descending west and climbing the Sub Simm, Leathad an Taobhain West Top, where after a bit of searching found the tiny cairn on what was a fairly flat summit. On returning to the col I traversed below Leathad an Taobhain to rejoin the path on its north ridge then re-traced my route back to the bike meeting a couple of mountain bikers heading up Meall an Ullt Chreagaich. The cycle out was a lot easier than in the morning.
