With a forecast for thundery showers in the afternoon I settled for a short walk in the Glen Feshie area of the Cairngorm National Park. I left my vehicle in the car park in Glen Feshie, north of Auchlean, accessed along a single track road from Feshiebridge on the B970 Inverdruie to Kingussie Road. I then walked south along the tarred road to Auchlean which had been renovated and the area tidied up since my last visit. There was also a large shed under construction with a new route to the north-east to avoid this property.
Beyond Auchlean the path came to the Allt Fhearnagan with the banks appearing to be more eroded than last time I was here although the stream was easily crossed as the water level was low and there were plenty of boulders to assist. The path then came of a large rough grassy area and here another path took me to the wide bridge over the River Feshie.
Once on the other side a vehicle track and path led to the private tarred road for Glenfeshie Lodge.
I walked north along this tarred road for around 600 metres to the house at Stronetoper, which was unoccupied, where according to the hill bagging web site an old track gave access to Creag na Sroine. However harvesting work was in progress, although not today as it was a Sunday, with lots of brash and work vehicle tracks. I followed some of these tracks west later turning south-west and coming across numerous trees that had been blown over. I moved slightly south and found what appeared to be an old track, probably the one mentioned on the hill bagging web site, between the mature trees and a younger plantation.
This old track later disappeared and I then wandered through heather and along the edge of some mature trees to the cairn marking the summit of the Tump, Creag na Sroine.
The return was by the upward route but I stayed on the old track for a bit longer until it became overgrown with new trees or overhanging ones.
