Drumnacreich – This Tump was located south-west of Ardersier and just north of the B9039. I parked beside the communications mast on the unclassified road to Fisherton and walked along paths through the wood to the so called highest point. It wasn’t obvious so wandered around a bit before returning by the approach route.
Cromal Mount – Left my car on the High Street in Arderseir, crossed sports pitches, and attempted the steep westerly approach but it was too awkward. Discovered a path to the north which took me close to the summit but the final section involved crossing some cut branches and forcing my way through long and dense bracken to reach the highest point of this Tump. Thereafter I retraced my steps through the horrible vegetation to regain the path and return to the High Street.
Laiken Brae – From the A939 Nairn to Grantown Road at Laiken Forest, south of Nairn, briefly walked along a vehicle track then through the trees to the highest point of this Tump. The return was by the ascent route.
Hill of Urchany – Also located south of Nairn this Tump was approached from the unclassified road to its west where a track headed into the forest. I later left this track and walked up the side of a harvested area to reach a little used track. After a brief walk along it I climbed through mature trees to reach the highest point of Hill of Urchany. The descent involved using some other tracks to return to the start.
Dun Evan – This Tump was located to the south-west of Cawdor and approached from the unclassified road to its west through an area of forest that had been harvested. A track through the trees then led to the south side of Dun Evan then an old track rose through the forest. I later left this track and climbed steeply across rough and in places rocky ground to the summit area. The trig point was reached along a narrow passage of closely growing trees. The return was by the upward route.
