Angus

The first stop was south-west of Forfar to climb the Tump, Kinnettles Hill. I left my vehicle at the start of the track leading to North Mains of Kinnettles then entered and crossed a stubble field to reach a stone dyke/fence where I visited a couple of high points. I then entered the adjoining woodland where I wandered over another couple of potential high points as I was unable to tell which was the highest.

I moved to the south-east of Glamis and parked on the minor road west of Arniefoul Mill then walked west along a wet and muddy track before descending to and crossing the Glen Ogilvie Burn via a footbridge. It was then a steep climb through well spaced trees, avoiding the rocks, to the grassy summit of the Tump, Hunter’s Hill, although the exact spot wasn’t obvious.

The next couple of hills were to the south-east of Coupar Angus. I left my vehicle in the Ballo Hill car park crossed the minor road then several fields to below Gask Hill. It was then a steep climb through rough grass to reach the north-east ridge where the gradient eased. A short walk led to the heathery summit of this Hump.

From there I dropped west through some trees then it was over a knoll before descending to a wet and muddy track and stock fence. I then ascended the Tump, Buttergask Hill, the summit marked by a cairn. Thereafter I returned to the stock fence, followed a vehicle track and animal trails to the south of Gask Hill, before descending steeply to the grassy fields and returning to the car park.

Finally I moved to the lay-by on the south side of the B953, south-east of Coupar Angus. I crossed a barbed wire fence and a couple of grassy fields to reach the summit of the Tump, Forehill, which appeared to be beside a barbed wire fence.
