Aberdeenshire

Hill of Tolquhon, south of Tarves, was first on today’s list. I left my vehicle in the car park at Tolquhon Castle and walked along the Old Drovers Road towards Tarves and to the west side of this Tump. I then left this track and walked across a field of neeps to the summit although the highest point wasn’t obvious.

I then headed to north-east of Tarves and left my car on the minor road to the north of Fountain Hill. I entered a stubble field to reach the summit of this uncategorised hill although the highest point wasn’t obvious.

South-west of Auchnagatt was Hill of Skilmafilly. I left my vehicle at the side of the minor road to the west and walked up the access track to the wind farm then into a field where the summit of this Tump was located. The highest point wasn’t obvious.

Further west was the Tump, Hill of Belnagoak. I left my car on the minor road to the north at the start of an overgrown vehicle track and walked along this track to a copse of trees. Entered and walked through this wood onto a grassy track and into a field containing sheep where the trig point was located. The return was more direct avoiding the wood.

Slightly further west was Hill Of Balquhindachy. I drove up the access road to the first wind turbine, got out of my car and walked along the edge of a field to what appeared to be the highest point of this Tump.

I parked on the minor road to the north of Deer’s Hill located south-west of New Deer. I then entered and crossed a couple of fields to locate the trig point marking the summit of this Tump.

South of Cuminestown was the uncategorised Waggle Hill. I parked at the side of the minor road to the north-east then crossed stubble and grassy fields to reach the summit although the actual high point wasn’t obvious.

The final hill of the day was Steinman Hill north of Fyvie. I parked beside Blackrie Cottages to the north- east of this Tump and walked west along the road before entering a field. I then followed a path through these trees before entering and crossing another couple of fields to reach the trig point.
