Beinn nan Ramh from Incheril

Joined a couple of friends to climb Beinn nan Ramh from Incheril east of Kinlochewe. This was to be a new route for myself having climbed this Graham twice from the A832 east of Achnasheen.

Left the vehicles in the car park there, not many spaces left, and set off on bikes, initially passing through a pedestrian gate, the main gate controlled automatically. Here took the right fork and cycled east, later north-east, along the north side of the Abhainn Bruachaig on an easy gradient to the Heights of Kinlochewe. At the track junction here went right and continued the cycle east above the Abhainn Srath Chrombuill to the old house at Leckie where left the bikes and mistakenly my camera.

The start of the mapped path wasn’t obvious and once located was indistinct at times. After a bit of height gain came across some wet and churned up ATV tracks which rose from Srath Chrombaill. It wasn’t possible to distinguish between the path and the ATV tracks so followed the latter, although it is possible they were now combined. This led to a newly constructed track with wooden planks acting as crossing points over water courses, one still under construction. The creation of this vehicle track appeared to be in connection with peat restoration in the area.

The track came to an end short of the Allt na Slataich, which was easily crossed. It was then a steady plod ENE across a mixture of grasses, heather, mosses and wet ground with some peat hags. Higher up the vegetation was shorter before reaching the cairn marking the summit of Beinn nan Ramh.

After a fuel break here, the return was by the upward route to the bikes followed by a mainly downhill cycle to the car park.
