Set off from the accommodation in Mellon Charles, located north-west of Aultbea which is on the north side of the A832 Braemore Junction to Gairloch Road in the North-West Highlands. Walked through this hamlet, passing the Perfume Studio, now a private dwelling, to the turning place at the termination of the public road.
Went through a gate and continued north-west along a vehicle track to a junction. Here took the right turn, went through another gate, and climbed north initially on a grassy track later coming to its end. Visited a nearby knoll with views out across Loch Ewe to the Isle of Ewe and the peninsula north of Pollewe.

Thereafter headed north-east, a relatively easy walk over rough ground and vegetation, then along some deer tracks to the north of Loch Sgaireig Mor.

From there climbed south-east onto the Tump, Meall an t-Slagain, the highest point being some vegetation.

The descent south-east included a short steep section, to the south end of Loch na Leirg then some deer tracks east, crossing a small gully to below the craggy west face of Beinn Dearg Mhor. Headed round to its south side then climbed north onto the summit of this Hump, marked by a rock SSE of the cairn.

Returned to the west side of the gully later leaving the deer tracks and walked along the north-east ridge of Creagan Fhithich Mor before climbing to the cairn marking the summit of this unclassified hill.

It was then a short descent south-west through some long heather, the toughest vegetation of this walk, to a stock fence and an old stone dyke. Once over them it was along the side of some gorse bushes and onto one of the several cul-de-sacs in Mellon Charles followed by a downhill walk back to the accommodation.
